More government troops sent to Kachin region as the two sides prepare to meet

Burmese army sent more reinforcement to Kachin region as the two sides are preparing to meet in China-Burma border town Ruili on March 11, 2013. Local sources say about 400 government soldiers from Pakokku-based 101st LID were seen at a rubber field near Gat Shang Yang village and later marched on to KIA’s 11th  Battalion territory by separating into two groups on March 4.

About 200 soldiers from Burmese army’s Magwe-based 88th LID were preparing to go to Kachin front lines in KIA’s 5th Brigade area at Wa Shawng village since the first week of March, said a local source.

More troops from Hpegon-based 7th Military Operations Command were seen heading to Dum Bung and Loi Li Yang villages in KIA’s 2nd Brigade area.

Local sources say about 200 troops from Burmese army’s Sagaing-based 33rd LID moved from Gang Dau Yang village to N-pawn village on March 4 at 9 am. About 130 soldiers from 33rd LID were seen heading towards KIA’s 10th Battalion territory in Chipwe.
Burmese army’s helicopters have transported about 100 troops from Myitkyina to Lu Pi village in Lawk Hkawng where fighting has been raged since mid-February.
