St. Columban Church’s hall set on fire

A Church hall of San Columban Roman Catholic Church at Aung Nan village in Myitkyina was burned on Oct 20, 2011 at 3:00 am. The cause of the blaze was still under investigation and no one knew how the fire first started. One local resident believes arson is likely to be the cause of the fire which destroyed two-story building.

This Church hall has served as a place of refuge for civilians fleeing from war zones since the beginning of the conflict. The building fire worsens the situation for refugees who have taken shelter at San Columban Church.
